The Great Money “I AM” – Part 3
Or, the archetypes who are really telling your money story
“People say that money is not the key to happiness, but I always figured if you have enough money, you can have a key made.” – Joan Rivers
Aloha Entrepreneur!
So!
Over the past couple of weeks we’ve been reviewing the light side of each of the Sacred Money Archetypes – the Ruler, Accumulator, Connector and Alchemist and the Maverick, Celebrity, Nurturer and Romantic and we created an “I AM” Statement you can use whenever doubts set in.
This week, it’s time to visit the four Survival Archetypes – Child, Victim, Prostitute and Saboteur.
We know that your primary Sacred Money Archetype illuminates your particular relationship to money.
BUT.
Behind the scenes your four Survival archetypes are working away and doing what they can to keep you safe.
At least that’s what they tell you.
But, are they really keeping you safe or just keeping you stuck?
Do you attempt to really go for it, rev yourself up to the max only to have the voice in your head say:
“You? Who do you think you are to do that? You haven’t got the skills! You’re a fraud! You don’t know what you’re doing! Nobody wants to hear from you!”
That voice, as the late, great Gary Craig would say, is yelling out your tail-enders. The writing on the walls, the “Yeah, buts…” that keep you stuck.
And that voice, no matter how convincing it sounds, is coming from one of your Survival archetypes.
And if the Survival archetype shouts loudest, it doesn’t really matter how loudly your Ruler declares she’s a Queen because, honey: you. ain’t. going. nowhere.
Remember:
“Our findings suggest that self-esteem, feeling good or bad about yourself, is fundamental. By age 5, children have a sense of self-esteem comparable in strength to that of adults.” – Molly McElroy, The Institute for Learning and Brain Science.
Fact: by age FIVE, you had basically already learned everything about yourself. And this would include attitudes about money and work – whether it’s good or bad, how easy it is to create… By age five, your self-esteem was as intact as it is now and as a result, your thoughts about money, good or bad, were developed all that time ago.
Think about it: you aren’t in charge at all! Your inner five-year-old has been running the show! Relying on and operating from the BULL SHIT, the data you collected as a child!
Think of your Survival Archetypes as four table legs supporting the table-top on which your issues with money rest.
Issues might include:
I’m no good with money. Earning money is hard. I don’t know how to start a business.
Whatever it is, it doesn’t matter. You can start to address them now.
There is a crossover here with Gold Standard EFT, as taught by Gary Craig. He also used the table analogy for any issue, not just money. Because if you can take out the legs, the table-top – the issue – will ultimately have to fall and be resolved.
So this could just be the most important part of this little newsletter series. Part 3 is where we come out blasting! Part 3 is where the rubber meets the road.
Let’s go!
Child – Guardian of Innocence
The highest form of Child energy is all about nurturing the part of us that wants to be light hearted and innocent and learning to balance this with the seriousness of adult life. The energy that flows from a balanced Child is quite magnetic and good to be around.
The Child is here to show us responsibility. Very few of us get to be taken care of 100%. We need to be able to make money and pay the bills and go out to dinner if we want to enjoy a pleasant journey on this particular planet.
Whilst there are many Child sub-archetypes, I’m going to focus on the wounded child as this is the one most people – including me! – identify with.
If you resonate with this archetype, the painful experiences of childhood which likely spread into abusive territory, have a substantial influence over your adult life.
Question is, do you find yourself falling into a sense of self-pity and blame, or, have you enabled the childhood challenges to uncork a feeling of compassion towards others and an ability to move on through forgiveness?
In other words, at the Soul level do you think others should take care for you and give you money, or, do you see how taking responsibility and earning your own money can allow you to ease the suffering of others?
For the purposes of this exercise, let’s try to keep things in the light rather than the shadow!
Think about that as you create a new “I AM” Statement for yourself.
How does your Child relate to money?
For example, you might say:
I AM taking 100% responsibility and paying my way
I AM creating financial security while still being playful and living life to the fullest
I AM glad I can be generous with others
Now complete your own statement: I AM ____________________
… and when the Child nudges you towards the shadow, say it aloud to yourself at least 15 times* every day!
Victim – Guardian of Empowerment
The Victim is all about developing self-esteem and personal power and preventing you from being victimised or victimising others.
The Victim demonstrates how you evaluate your relationship to power, particularly with people with whom you have control issues or need to develop boundaries. You are always at choice to make a decision that will serve your own empowerment.
So, do you enjoy getting sympathy when you’ve been taken advantage of, or, do you use challenging situations to develop self-esteem, courage and endurance?
In other words, when it comes to money do you think everyone’s out to get you, or, are you able to set healthy boundaries with others that keep you and your finances safe?
For the purposes of this exercise, let’s try to keep things in the light rather than the shadow!
Think about that as you create a new “I AM” Statement for yourself.
How does your Victim relate to money?
For example, you might say:
I AM committed to my own empowerment with money
I AM setting boundaries around my spending and those I wish to help
I AM courageously empowering myself to be rich on my own terms
Now complete your own statement: I AM ____________________
… and say it aloud to yourself at least 15 times* every day!
Prostitute – Guardian of Faith
The Prostitute is all about the sale or negotiation of your integrity or spirit whenever your physical and/or financial survival is threatened.
You must learn to get away from situations and people that cost you too much, whether in terms of money, energy, dignity or time.
Question is, are you willing to sell your mind, body or power for money – (or even buy a controlling interest in another person?), or, have you developed the self-esteem and self-respect that make it impossible for you to sell out, having total faith that the Divine is looking out for you?
In other words, do you sell any aspect of yourself for perceived financial security, or, are you strong enough to say: “not for sale”?
For the purposes of this exercise, let’s try to keep things in the light rather than the shadow!
Think about that as you create a new “I AM” Statement for yourself.
How does your Prostitute, relate to money?
For example, you might say:
I AM earning money with my integrity and self-respect intact
I AM trusting in God as my CFO
I AM safe in the world and no-one can buy me
Now complete your own statement: I AM ____________________
… and say it aloud to yourself at least 15 times* every day!
Saboteur – Guardian of Choice
The Saboteur is all about acts of courage and following intuition so you can make the most of opportunities that come your way.
Let’s face it: settling for a safe, ordinary life when you had the opportunity to do something really extraordinary is a tragedy! How do you undermine or betray yourself?
Question is, do you often resort to self-destructive behaviour when things are going well, or, have you developed the self-esteem that enables you to keep moving forward no matter what?
In other words, is money something that can only be earned in the comfort zone doing the tried and tested, or, do you have the courage to start the business and go for all the time and money freedom you want with no guarantee of success?
For the purposes of this exercise, let’s try to keep things in the light rather than the shadow!
Think about that as you create a new “I AM” Statement for yourself.
How does your Saboteur, relate to money?
For example, you might say:
I AM embracing new ways to make money
I AM meeting all my needs doing what I love
I AM harnessing my power to create exciting change in my life
Now complete your own statement: I AM ____________________
… and say it aloud to yourself at least 15 times* every day!
* Why 15? As the legendary Catherine Ponder taught, it’s the mystical number that cracks open the “pattern of the past” and lets the light in.
At Mavericks & Malbec, we love a mystical loophole. It’s the short-cut that moves you from “Labour” to “Leverage.”
Now we’ve met all eight Sacred Money Archetypes – the Ruler, Accumulator, Connector and Alchemist, the Maverick, Celebrity, Nurturer and Romantic and the four Survival archetypes: the Child, Victim, Prostitute and Saboteur.
And we now know that the Survival Archetypes are the ones really running the show.
If you suspect your Child or Saboteur is currently driving you toward burnout (and making your Malbec taste a bit sour), let’s meet for a 1:1 Virtual VIP Day. We’ll dig deep into Mindset to shift you from Labour to Leverage. We’ll look at your primary archetype and your relationship to her to ensure your business supports your life – not the other way around.
After all, you deserve all the wealth you desire.
