Mindset, Love, Money!
Or, why you should love what you do and be handsomely rewarded for it
“You have a wealthy mindset, you do what you love – and make money doing it. It’s not the goal – it’s the result.” – Bob Proctor
Aloha, lovely entrepreneurs!
Grab a glass of something crisp - perhaps that bottle of Laurent-Perrier you’ve been saving for a “special occasion” (newsflash: being alive is the occasion) - and let’s have a frank conversation about a phrase that is currently acting like a slow-puncture in your business tyre.
It’s something even the most sophisticated Maverick or the most visionary Alchemist can be unseated by… a single, noble-sounding lie:
“I love what I do, but it’s not about the money!”
It sounds so virtuous, doesn’t it? It’s the kind of thing we say at dinner parties to prove we aren’t one of those greedy corporate types. It’s very A Course in Miracles. It feels spiritual. It feels “high-vibe.”
But here is the truth: In your business, if it’s not about the money, it’s a hobby. And while hobbies are lovely for weekends, they don’t fund a 20-hour work week or a triple-income leap.
When you say it’s not about the money, you are essentially telling the Universe to stop sending the delivery truck to your house. You’re closing the gates of your bank account.
Let’s look at how this specific trap can unseat each of the eight Sacred Money Archetypes and perform a quick mindset reframe.
The Ruler: The Empire Without an Exchequer
The Ruler is born to lead and build empires. But when she falls for the not about the money trap, she becomes a visionary without a budget. She dreams of changing the world but lacks the capital to hire the team to help her do it.
The Unseating: She prioritizes the “mission” so much that she ignores the profit margins, eventually leading to a collapse of the very empire she worked so hard to build.
The Reframe: “My profit is the fuel for my purpose. The more I make, the more power I have to lead.”
The Accumulator: The Secretive Servant
The Accumulator usually loves a healthy bank balance, but she can be shamed into this trap. She fears being seen as “greedy” or “hoarding.”
The Unseating: She hides her desire for security behind a mask of service, under-charging for her meticulous work because she’s afraid that wanting money makes her a bad person.
The Reframe: “Financial strength is my foundation for service. Accumulating wealth allows me to be a pillar of stability for everyone I care for.”
The Connector: The Pro-Bono Bestie
For the Connector, money can feel like a barrier to intimacy. She values relationships above all else.
The Unseating: She treats her clients like friends and feels guilty for charging them. She ends up with a calendar full of “coffee chats” and a bank account full of zero.
The Reframe: “Charging my worth honours the relationship. A professional exchange creates a container for real results and mutual respect.”
The Alchemist: The Starving Sorceress
The Alchemist is the most likely to fall for this trap. She lives in the world of ideas and transformation.
The Unseating: She believes that magic shouldn’t have a price tag. She feels that if she’s gifted, she should give it away. This results in the Alchemist being the most talented person in the room – and the most broke.
The Reframe: “Money is a form of manifestation. By receiving wealth, I am grounding my magic into the physical world where it can do the most good.”
The Maverick: The Rebel Without a Raise
The Maverick loves to stand against the status quo. But if she associates the money with the establishment, she’ll rebel against her own paycheque.
The Unseating: She refuses to play the money game out of spite for corporate greed, unknowingly trapping herself in a cycle of struggle that limits her ability to actually disrupt the industry.
The Reframe: “Profit is the ultimate rebellion. Having money gives me the freedom to flip the table and rewrite the rules on my own terms.”
The Celebrity: The Famous and Frugal
The Celebrity wants the spotlight and the applause.
The Unseating: She accepts exposure as a valid form of payment. She’d rather be seen as successful than actually be successful. She spends her last twenty on a blowdry for a podcast appearance that pays nothing.
The Reframe: “My charisma is a high-value asset. I choose to be both seen AND paid, because real stars don’t just shine, they thrive.”
The Nurturer: The Martyr of the Manor
The Nurturer finds it nearly impossible to separate caring from charging.
The Unseating: She thinks that if she cares about her clients, she shouldn’t take their money. She becomes a martyr, burning herself out to save others while her own life (and family) suffers from the lack of resources.
The Reframe: “I cannot pour from an empty cup. Charging a premium allows me to care for myself so I can continue to care for the world around me at the highest level.”
The Romantic: The Hedonist in Hiding
The Romantic loves the lifestyle… the Waitrose shops, the elegant clothes, the fine wine. But she often finds the actual discussion of money to be crass.
The Unseating: She ignores the bills and the bank balance because she wants life to feel lovely. By saying it’s not about the money, she avoids the grounding necessary to actually sustain her luxury.
The Reframe: “Money is a beautiful energy that supports my sensual life. I handle it with clarity and love so that my abundance is sustainable and elegant.”
The “It’s About Both” Mindset
The truth is that for a successful entrepreneur, it is always about the money AND the mission. They are two sides of the same gold coin.
Whenever you say “It’s not about the money,” you are subconsciously telling yourself that your work doesn’t have intrinsic value. You are telling your Survival Archetypes (especially the Victim or Child) that they can stay in charge because it doesn’t matter anyway.
It does matter. It matters because you want to work 20 hours a week. It matters because you want to pay off your credit card. It matters because you want to donate to Trussell and buy the expensive Malbec without double-checking the price.
Your Mission This Week
This week, every time you find yourself about to say “It’s not about the money,” stop. Take a breath. And replace it with:
“I love what I do and I am brilliantly compensated for the value I provide.”
Use the Ho’oponopono phrases to clean the old, spiritual-bypass energy: I love you, I’m sorry, please forgive me, thank you.
