“Friendship is like money, easier made than kept.” – Samuel Butler
It’s time for week three in our eight-part Sacred Money Mirror series where we explore the light and shadow sides of the Sacred Money Archetypes that shape how you earn, spend, save, and lead.
So far we’ve looked at the Ruler and Accumulator archetypes.
But… could it actually be the Connector 🔗 archetype who’s running the money show for you?
You can find out for sure by completing this Assessment – here are the instructions – and definitely take a look at the Sacred Money Archetype cards.
Your Connector’s Sacred Money Mirror
If the Ruler is the empire builder, the Connector is the heart of the kingdom. Your wealth is built on relationships, shared experiences, and the deep belief that money is a tool for connection rather than a destination in itself. You see life through the lens of people, not profit.
But here’s the sacred mirror: the Connector archetype reflects back to you the truth that relationships are your currency — and if you don’t consciously integrate financial strategy with your natural gift for connection, you risk being rich in friends but poor in financial stability.
How the Connector Shows Up with Money
When you’re living from your highest expression as a Connector:
You value generosity and use money to strengthen bonds and communities.
Networking and relationship-building are your natural superpowers. You don’t “collect contacts” — you nurture real, lasting relationships.
You’re open to collaborative opportunities and see money as a flow rather than something to hoard.
You’re motivated by meaning and shared purpose more than material accumulation.
For Connectors, money is often a byproduct of meaningful work, not the main focus. You’ll often take risks if they feel “right” on a human level, even if the numbers aren’t fully clear.
Where It Sabotages You
The very strengths that make you magnetic can also cause financial leaks:
Over-giving: You invest so much in others — your time, energy, even your own money — that you forget to replenish your own reserves.
Avoiding the numbers: Because relationships are your focus, you may neglect financial details, assuming “it will all work out” as long as everyone is happy.
Dependency risk: Your trust in others can make you vulnerable to relying on a partner, employer, or network to “handle the money stuff.”
Saying yes too often: You can get caught in collaborations or generosity spirals that stretch you financially thin.
If left unchecked, the Connector can drift into a place where they feel guilty prioritising their own needs — even though doing so is essential for sustaining their generosity.
How to Heal & Grow
Your growth edge is about balancing your deep relational intelligence with practical money stewardship:
Assign money dates: Make a weekly “finance meeting” with yourself as non-negotiable as meeting a friend for coffee.
Practice reciprocal giving: Before committing resources, check: Is this relationship or project mutually beneficial?
Celebrate your earning power: Remind yourself that making money isn’t selfish — it’s what allows you to show up for others without depletion.
Learn your numbers: Know your baseline monthly income needs and your financial goals. This clarity will help you filter opportunities with both heart and head.
Your sacred money growth is to see that boundaries are a form of love — both for yourself and for the people you serve.
Want support with this?
If you recognise yourself in the Connector, you’re not alone — and you don’t need to choose between generosity and financial empowerment.
This is exactly what we work on inside Mavericks & Malbec—a coaching community for soul-driven women entrepreneurs who are done with burnout-as-a-business-model.
